Halliburton Memo Warns Of Mass Layoffs In Two Weeks-Management Next On The Chopping Block

More job cuts could be coming to Halliburton after a media release reveals thousands of employees from the energy giant stand to lose their jobsall around the world.

Click To Read MemoIn an internal memo from the company that was posted on the website of an Austin-base consultant, part of the memo reads:

"As I know you are certainly aware, these continue to be tough times for our industry. Oil prices are under pressure, rig counts continue to decline and customer spending has been significantly curtailed both for the remainder of 2015 and 2016. As a result, we must continue to manage through this extended industry down cycle by implementing additional cost reduction measures to protect the interests of all stakeholders.

Unfortunately, this means that additional staff reductions are underway, with the majority of the reductions in North America, the region hit hardest by market conditions."


Back in August dozens of people were laid off from the Grand Junction operation.

There is no word on if there will be more workforce cut from the local facility.

The oil services giant is planning more cuts to its workforce, including management positions. The planned layoffs add to a growing list of energy job losses that have started to fan out from the oil field to corporate offices around the globe.

Worldwide, nearly 179,000 workers have lost their jobs in the downturn, according to data collected by energy recruiter swift worldwide resources.
